Twelve-year-old Bird Gardner lives a quiet existence with his loving but broken father, a former linguist who now shelves books in a university library. There are so many layers and much to discuss.Īll of the main characters will stick with me for a long time. That said, I do feel it’s one of the best books I’ve read in 2022. But it’s such a hard read in many ways between the violent acts and an overall somber tone.
